Outfielder Kosuke Fukudome was traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Cleveland Indians.
Fukudome is a solid outfielder and a reliable hitter. The acquisition will ease the outfield injuries of Grady Sizemore and Shin-Soo Choo.
Fukudome has played 4 seasons in the MLB, with a .262 average and 37 home runs. he was named to the All-Star team in 2008.
On the flip side, the young Cubs get even more youth on their roster. They get an outfielder in Abner Abreu, as well as a right-hand pitcher in Carlton Smith.
Abreu, 21, who is in his fifth pro season, is batting .244 with 12 homers and 35 RBI.
Smith, on the other hand, is 2-3 with a 4.50 ERA in 34 relief appearances. The 25-year-old right-hander owns a 36-28 record with eight saves and a 4.21 ERA over seven minor league seasons.
