Although not official until he clears waivers, Vince Young has joined the Philadelphia Eagles. He is being welcomed by starting quarterback, Michael Vick.
“Looking forward to working with him,” Vick said of Young, via CSNPhilly.com. “We’ll spend a lot of time getting to know one another. It’s cool – I look forward to having him in here, look forward to making him a better player.”
“We all have problems with booing,” Vick said. “We all hate getting booed. It’s just part of the game. You’ve got to take the bad with the good. As much praise as you get, you might get scrutinized and criticized, but I think that only makes you better as a person and as a player, and you just have to keep going.”
I personally like the move. He is in a good situation to learn and grow, with a star to watch and a coaching staff that will develop him. Despite his flaws, he is 31-17 in the NFL. He will be a great replacement if Vick were to go down.
Who knows, maybe he becomes the next starting quarterback of the Eagles eventually, or he goes to Philly to get tutored and signs elsewhere next season. I’d say the Eagles can trade another QB, but this is only a 1-year deal.
