Eagles Sign Cullen Jenkins
They sign defensively lineman Cullen Jenkins, away from the Superbowl Packers. It’s a 5-year deal that can be terminated after the season, due to a team option.
Jenkins is a Pro Bowl Caliber player. He played defensive end for Green Bay in a 3-4 defense, on the eagles he will mostly play defensive tackle (with the ability to move outside to end).
Eagles Trade Broderick Bunkley
Defensive Tackle Broderick Bunkley, was traded to the Cleveland Browns for a 5th round pick in next year’s draft. This, coming after the acquisition of Cullen Jenkins, and after being replaced in the starting lineup by Antonio Dixon (diamond in the rough type player).
As for Bunkley, he will see some familiar faces in Cleveland. Head Coach Pat Shurmur, formerly the QB coach in Philly, as well as CB Sheldon Brown and LB Chris Gocong.
The Eagles said they had a plan and were going to make a splash, and they don’t appear to be slowing down. Luckily, this is my favorite team so I am more than pleased.
Eagles Off-season additions:
Offense: Vince young
Defense: Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins
Draft: 2nd round pick, 5th round pick
* They now have 2 2nd-round picks, 2 4th-round picks, 2 5-round picks, and 2 6th-round picks in next year’s draft (total of 11 picks before any compensation picks)
The big question remains, what about Desean Jackson?
