NFL Week 2 Picks/Notes

Sunday Morning Games

OAK @ BUF – OAK (Interesting game with 2 young/improved teams, both 1-0)

KC @ DET – DET (Speaking of youth, the talented Lions against a Chiefs team looking to bounce back)

BAL @ TEN – BAL (Beating the Steelers is one game and in the past, they better focus on the road. Titans looking for their offensive groove)

CLE @ IND – CLE (If Manning is retiring, they have a good shot at the number one pick and drafting Luck. Cleveland is on the rise, I like their future)

TB @ MIN – MIN (TB needs the ground game to succeed, and AP needs McNabb to open the field up)

CHI @ NO – CHI (Urlacher and his defensive unit dominated the Falcons last week and will be emotional after his mother’s passing for this game. The Saints need their defense to participate this week and help out their offense)

JAC @ NYJ – NYJ (Jets need to stay consistent offensively, and the Jaguars look to build off their win last week with a revamped defense)

SEA @ PIT – PIT (We’ll find out if these are the same Steelers, or if Seattle surprises like they did in the playoffs last year)

ARI @ WAS – ARI (Redskins played well last week and need to be consistent. Arizona showed good offense and look to shore up their pass defense)

GB @ CAR – GB (Superbowl Champs await a revamped regime and Cam after his outstanding debut. The Panthers need a big game from their defense to pull off an upset)

Sunday Afternoon Games

DAL @ SF – DAL (Dallas making a West Coast trip after a tough lost, and they need to stick with the running game. 49ers have to be consistent on both sides of the ball and this game is winnable)

CIN @ DEN – DEN (Bengals with the old school philosophy, ground game and defense. Broncos need consistency on offense and plays from their defense)

HOU @ MIA – MIA (Houston took care of business week one and are looking forward to more success with Wade Phillips defense. The Dolphins offense played well last week and they have an underrated defense, they won’t play Tom Brady every week)

SD @ NE – SD (Possible playoff preview. Chargers need success on the ground and the Patriots need to shore up their pass defense)

Sunday Night Football

PHI @ ATL – PHI (Vick returns and the Falcons don’t want to start the year 0-2. If the Falcons fall behind, Michael Turner will be negated 2 weeks in a row. If the Eagles man the receivers, they can load the box)

Monday Night Football

STL @ NYG – STL (Giants are decimated with injuries and don’t have their usual defense. STL offense needs to put points up on the board)

Games of the Week

CHI @ NO (Bears trying to keep up with Packers, and Saints want to avoid an 0-2 start)

SD @ NE (2 MVP candidates squaring off, Rivers and Brady. Who will have more support?)

PHI @ ATL (Eagles trying to show what they’re made of on the road against a good running team, and the Falcons also trying to avoid an 0-2 start with the return of Michael Vick)

* All could have playoff implications and possibly be previews of what is to come. I went with all 3 road teams, partly because of my biases, but I do believe these games will be very exciting and competitive! Should be another great week of football!
